Pride Run Atlanta is looking for dedicated individuals to be part of the 2027 Committee — a team of leaders who will bring our community’s flagship 5K to life. Serving on the committee is a chance to step into leadership, shape one of Atlanta’s most celebrated LGBTQIA+ events, and expand its impact. Together, we’ll carry on the Pride Run tradition of raising thousands to support LGBTQIA+ health, give back to our beneficiaries, and break the stigma around HIV.

  • Pride Run ATL is Front Runners Atlanta’s annual 5K run and walk in Piedmont Park. It raises funds and awareness to support LGBTQIA+ health and wellness initiatives and reduce HIV stigma.

  • We are recruiting for:

    • Sponsorship & Partnerships Lead

    • Marketing & Communications Lead

    • Community & Beneficiaries Lead

    • Volunteer & Race Day People Lead

  • Anyone with the passion and skills to contribute!

  • The process follows these key dates:

    • Applications Open: October 6

    • Applications Close: October 23

    • Interviews: October 26-30

    • Committee Leads Announced: November 6

  • Leadership roles run year-round, with peak involvement leading up to the race:

    • October–January: Sponsorship outreach, beneficiary planning, early logistics

    • February–March: Committee planning intensifies, registration launches, marketing campaigns begin

    • April–June: Peak season — weekly meetings, volunteer coordination, sponsor fulfillment, logistics execution

    • Race Week (June): All hands on deck, 10–20 hours depending on role

    • July: Post-race debrief, financial and impact reporting

  • Each role has different weekly requirements (see role breakdowns below). Most roles range from 2–5 hours per week, with higher commitments in the final 2–3 months before race day.

We are currently forming the Pride Run 2027 Leadership Committee, a team of volunteers who will oversee planning, sponsorships, logistics, finances, volunteers, marketing, and community engagement. These leaders will ensure a successful event while giving back to our community and beneficiaries, advancing Pride Run’s mission of improving LGBTQIA+ health and wellness and breaking the stigma around HIV.

  • Connects the race to the LGBTQ+ and allied community and keeps beneficiary organizations at its center.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Lead the beneficiary selection process and agreements, and keep those partnerships strong.

    • Plan and run pre-race community events, (i.e. pool party, queer yoga) with coordinator for each event.

    • Recruit local organizations for the Race Day Village and race day support (i.e. cheer stations, water stations).

    • Gather community impacts for stories for Marketing team to share.

    • Reach out to corporate and group teams and get printed materials posted around Atlanta.

    Time Commitment

    • Year-round: 2–3 hrs/week

    • During beneficiary selection: 4-5 hrs/week

    • February—June: 5-8 hrs/week

  • Keeps the race’s money and registration data accurate, visible, and independently reviewed.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Income/expense tracking and prepare invoices for Front Runners Treasurer to approve.

    • Lead registration platform and data alongside Race Company.

    • Send weekly registration reports during race planning season.

    • Create and track discount codes for sponsors, beneficiaries, and teams.

    • Review Race Company contract and budget before signing.

    • Prepare a post-race financial summary and beneficiary payout schedule.

    Time Commitment

    • Year-round: 1–2 hrs/week

    • Registration open season: 3-5 hrs/week

    • Registration close and post-event: 4–6 hrs/week

    • You are comfortable with spreadsheets and budgets.

    • You are careful, organized, detail-oriented, and keep clean records.

    • You welcome a second reviewer on the books.

  • Shapes the race’s public image and drives registrations and community awareness.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Develop consistent messaging and visual branding.

    • Maintain the race website, social media channels, press releases, and paid ads.

    • Design posters, flyers, postcards, and other printed materials.

    • Coordinate media outreach, press releases, and paid ads.

    • Manage race-day communications (emcee script, photography, live posts).

    • Publish community impact stories and share clear accessibility information.

    • Work alongside marketing agency to produce and deliver all race events communications, materials, and images.

    Time Commitment

    • Year-round: 3–5 hrs/week

    • February–June (campaign launches & marketing push): 8–12 hrs/week (Registration typically opens in March, with marketing efforts ramping up significantly leading into and following registration go-live.)

    • You care about depicting and displaying the LGBTQ+ and allied community accurately and warmly.

  • Secures and maintains financial and in-kind support from businesses and community partners.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Build the sponsorship strategy, packages, and prospects list.

    • Run outreach, proposals, and negotiations.

    • Manage the title sponsor relationship day-to-day, with Race Director oversight.

    • Manage sponsor contracts and deliver every sponsor benefit before, during, and after race day.

    • Confirm sponsor vendors for race day with the Project Manager.

    • Request discount codes be created for sponsors from Finance & Registration Lead.

    Time Commitment

    • Year-round: 2–4 hrs/week

    • October–January (peak sponsorship outreach): 6–8 hrs/week

    • February–June (race prep & sponsor fulfillment): 4–5 hrs/week

    • You like turning a mission into a clear and concise pitch.

  • Recruits, trains, and keeps the people who make race day happen, and builds the bench for every other lead.

    Key Responsibilities

    • Recruit volunteers for pre-race events and race day from employers, schools, clubs, and beneficiary organizations.

    • Designate area captains for check-in, course marshals, water stations, finish line, the Village, and setup and tear down.

    • Build headcount plan and shift schedule, and run training and briefings.

    • Run volunteers check-in on race day, thank volunteers, and gather feedback.

    • Find and onboard helpers for the team under each lead; maintain volunteer roster current.

    Time Commitment

    • Year-round: 2-3 hrs/week

    • Final 3 months: 4–6 hrs/week

    • Race week: 12+ hrs/week

The Pride Run Committee plays a vital role in planning, organizing, and executing Pride Run Atlanta — our city’s signature LGBTQ+ running and community celebration. Volunteers bring energy, creativity, and dedication to ensure the event is inclusive, successful, and impactful.

This application will help us understand your skills, interests, and availability so we can match you with the right committee role. No prior experience is required — just a willingness to contribute and collaborate.

What to expect as a Committee Member:

  • Attend all scheduled meetings with cadence to be agreed upon between Race Director and each lead.

  • Promptness/punctuality to all meetings and events.

  • Where possible, attend pre-race events and aid in volunteering at those events as needed.

  • Agree to uphold the values of inclusivity, respect, and teamwork.

  • Provide clear, efficient, and consistent communication with all fellow committee leads.

  • This is a volunteer role. No committee member shall expect any financial or material compensation for their involvement in the Pride Run ATL Committee.
