Pride Run Atlanta is excited to launch the 2026 Committee — a team of leaders who will bring our community’s flagship 5K to life. Serving on the committee is a chance to step into leadership, shape one of Atlanta’s most celebrated LGBTQIA+ events, and expand its impact. Together, we’ll carry on the Pride Run tradition of raising thousands to support LGBTQIA+ health, give back to our beneficiaries, and break the stigma around HIV.

Pride Run ATL is Front Runners Atlanta’s annual 5K run and walk in Piedmont Park. It raises funds and awareness to support LGBTQIA+ health initiatives and reduce HIV stigma.

Leadership roles run year-round, with peak involvement leading up to the race:
September–January: Sponsorship outreach, beneficiary planning, early logistics
February–March: Committee planning intensifies, registration launches, marketing campaigns begin
April–June: Peak season — weekly meetings, volunteer coordination, sponsor fulfillment, logistics execution
Race Week (June): All hands on deck, 10–20 hours depending on role
July: Post-race debrief, financial and impact reporting

We are forming the Pride Run 2026 Leadership Committee, a team of volunteers who will oversee planning, sponsorships, logistics, finances, volunteers, marketing, and community engagement. These leaders will ensure a successful event while giving back to our community and beneficiaries, advancing Pride Run’s mission of improving LGBTQIA+ health and wellness and breaking the stigma around HIV.

The Race Director is the overall leader of the Pride Run, responsible for setting the vision, managing the planning timeline, and ensuring every aspect of the event is delivered successfully. This role coordinates all subcommittees, chair planning meetings, manages risks, and serves as the primary link to the Front Runners Atlanta Board.
Key Responsibilities
Develop the master timeline, milestones, and deliverables for the entire race cycle.
Chair planning meetings (bi-weekly, moving to weekly in the final three months).
Coordinate and hold subcommittee leads accountable for their areas.
Approve race budget (with Board) and make final operational decisions.
Monitor risks and issues, escalating to the Board when necessary.
Provide regular updates to the Board to ensure alignment with organizational goals.
Time Commitment
February–mid-April: 5–8 hrs/week
Mid-April–mid-June: 8–12 hrs/week
Year-round (outside of peak season): ~3–5 hrs/week

The Sponsorship & Partnerships Lead builds and maintains relationships with corporate, small business, and community partners to secure financial and in-kind support for the Pride Run. This role drives sponsor outreach, negotiates agreements, and ensures sponsor benefits are delivered before, during, and after the event.
Key Responsibilities
Develop sponsorship strategy, packages, and benefits.
Maintain a list of target sponsors (corporate, small business, community).
Lead outreach, proposals, and negotiations with sponsors.
Manage sponsor contracts and obligations (logo placement, recognition).
Build partnerships with LGBTQ+ and community organizations.
Time Commitment
Year-round: 2–4 hrs/week
September–January (peak sponsorship outreach): 6–8 hrs/week
February–June (race prep & sponsor fulfillment): 4–5 hrs/week

The Volunteer Coordinator recruits, trains, and manages volunteers to ensure the event is fully staffed and runs smoothly. This role organizes volunteer sign-ups, prepares training materials, assigns duties, and provides on-the-ground supervision on race day. In addition, the Volunteer Coordinator supports events leading up to Race Day, ensuring volunteers are available and prepared for pre-race activities as well.
Key Responsibilities
Develop and maintain a volunteer recruitment strategy.
Manage volunteer sign-ups and communications.
Prepare and deliver volunteer training materials.
Assign volunteer duties for race day and pre-race events.
Provide supervision and support to volunteers on-site.
Ensure a positive experience for volunteers to encourage return participation.
Time Commitment
Year-round: 1–2 hrs/week
Final 4 months: 4–6 hrs/week
Race week: 10+ hrs/week

The Marketing & Communications Lead manages the race’s public image and messaging. This role drives participant registrations and community awareness by coordinating social media campaigns, newsletters, press releases, and race-day communications.
Key Responsibilities
Develop consistent messaging and visual branding.
Maintain the race website and social media channels.
Write newsletters and announcements.
Coordinate media outreach, press releases, and paid ads.
Manage race-day communications (emcee script, photography, live posts).
Time Commitment
Year-round: 3–5 hrs/week
February–June (campaign launches & marketing push): 8–12 hrs/week (Registration typically opens in March, with marketing efforts ramping up significantly leading into and following registration go-live.)

The Logistics & Operations Lead ensures that all physical and operational elements of the Pride Run are executed seamlessly. This includes securing permits, managing vendors, planning the race course, and overseeing safety protocols and contingency plans.
Key Responsibilities
Serve as the primary point of contact with the Race Company, who applies for city permits, attends city meetings (alongside the Race Company), and coordinates police/EMT support.
Work with the Race Director to jointly determine the selection of the Race Company (typically finalized in the November/December timeframe).
Oversee race course planning, course materials, tents, bib timing, and other operational logistics.
Secure the Stage and Sound System and serve as the vendor point of contact for audio/visual needs.
Manage logistics vendor relationships and contracts, ensuring deliverables are met.
Coordinate with the Race Director on vendor and operations decisions.Collaborate with the Community Engagement & Beneficiary Lead to design and determine the layout, setup, and execution of the Race Day Village.
Work with the Sponsorship & Partnerships Lead to confirm vendor presence on Race Day.
Communicate with vendors about arrival times, setup locations, and park rules/regulations.
Develop and maintain contingency and safety plans in coordination with city officials, police, and EMT services.
Support risk management by identifying and addressing potential operational issues in advance.
Time Commitment
Year-round: 3–5 hrs/week
February–June (planning & vendor coordination): 6–10 hrs/week
Final 2 months (race build-out, permits, safety, Race Village logistics): 10–14 hrs/week

The Finance & Registration Lead manages the race’s budget, financial tracking, and registration system. This role tracks income and expenses, processes payments, and provides regular financial and registration reports to the Race Director and Board.
Key Responsibilities
Maintain income/expense tracking.
Process payments and reimbursements.
Monitor registration trends and provide weekly reports.
Prepare a financial summary after the event.
Time Commitment
Year-round: 1–2 hrs/week
Registration close and post-event: 4–6 hrs/week

The Community Engagement & Beneficiary Lead builds connections between the Pride Run and the local LGBTQ+ and allied community. This role manages the selection of race beneficiaries, develops relationships with community organizations, and ensures beneficiaries are actively represented in race-related activities.
Key Responsibilities
Lead the beneficiary selection process and maintain ongoing partnerships.
Organize and coordinate beneficiary participation in the race.
Collect and share community impact stories for marketing and reporting.
Support the Logistics & Operations Lead in identifying organizations to participate in the Race Day Village.
Recruit and coordinate local organizations to provide Race Day support (e.g., cheer stations, water stations, community tables).
Time Commitment
Year-round: 1–3 hrs/week
Final 3 months: 4–5 hrs/week
