Making strides for a healthier and happier LGBTQIA+ community

We’re smashing stigma and championing physical and mental well-being.

Pride Run ATL is Front Runner Atlanta’s annual run and walk 5K in Piedmont Park that raises thousands to improve the LGBTQIA community's physical and mental health while also breaking the stigma surrounding people that live with HIV.

Our History

Our founders, Front Runners Atlanta, was started in 1991 by a group of LGBTQIA+ runners who were seeking a community during the HIV crisis. Due to the hostility toward our community at the time, they had to meet in secret at an Atlanta Library. Their mission was to create friendships and community through running.

That same year, they created the Atlanta Pride Run, the first LGBTQIA+ run in the Southeast, to raise money to help those impacted by HIV.

The Run began in 1991 and was called the “Gay and Lesbian Pride Day Run.”  In 2002, it was rebranded as Atlanta Pride Run. Finally, in 2024, it was rebranded as Pride Run ATL. Since 1991, participants have raised more than $500,000 for the HIV and AIDS-related services in Atlanta.

Every registration means more donations to local charities fighting against HIV and AIDS.
